The Map's Destination

The map leads them to the old, abandoned workshop on the edge of town, rumored to belong to a reclusive, brilliant inventor who passed away years ago.

The thin, brittle paper map, a treasure unearthed from the heart of the antique shop, crinkled in Lily’s hands. It was a delicate thing, smelling faintly of dust and forgotten stories, and it felt both impossibly old and strangely urgent. Tom, his brow furrowed in concentration, leaned closer, his breath tickling Lily’s ear. “So, it’s not a direct route, is it? More like… a scavenger hunt.”

Lily traced a faint line with her finger, a smile playing on her lips. “Grandma always did love a good chase. Remember that time she sent us on a treasure hunt all over the park for her spectacles?”

Tom chuckled, a warm sound that always made Lily feel a little lighter. “Yeah, and we ended up finding three lost dogs and a very disgruntled squirrel.” He pointed to a faded ‘X’ marked near the edge of town. “This looks like it. The old Henderson place.”
