I walked through it like a ghost, my presence barely disturbing the air, the old book clutched to my chest as if it were a fragile bird. Its pages, brittle with age, whispered secrets only I could hear, and with each rustle, a sliver of forgotten sorrow tightened its icy grip around my heart. I was searching, though for what, I couldn't quite articulate. Then, I saw her. She sat on a low, carved bench beneath the shade of an ancient oak, her hands, gnarled as tree roots, resting on a basket overflowing with vibrant herbs.
