The last of the Obsidian Hand’s shadowy figures dissolved into the ancient stones, their ambition crumbling like dust in the wake of Elara’s decisive action. The heavy, oppressive silence that had blanketed Trakai Castle for so long finally lifted, replaced by the gentle sigh of the wind whispering through the battlements. Elara stood at the heart of the Grand Hall, the remnants of the struggle a stark contrast to the returning peace. The air, once thick with fear and the metallic tang of conflict, now smelled of damp earth and the faint, sweet perfume of the wildflowers stubbornly blooming in the castle courtyards.

Kael stood beside her, his usual guarded posture softened, his gaze sweeping over the scene with a quiet relief that mirrored her own. His dark eyes, which had held so much mystery and intensity, now held a warmth that Elara had only glimpsed before. He offered her a small, genuine smile, a rare sight that made her own heart flutter.

“They are gone,” Kael said, his voice a low rumble, no longer laced with the urgency of battle. “And the prophecy… it is safe.”
