The air inside Trakai Castle hummed with a nervous energy, a tangible tension that settled on Elara’s shoulders like a heavy cloak. Outside, the sky had bruised into a deep, stormy purple, mirroring the turmoil brewing within her. The prophecy, so recently understood, now felt like a fragile flame flickering in a gale, susceptible to being snuffed out at any moment. She clutched the worn parchment, its ancient script a familiar comfort, yet now a stark reminder of the danger that loomed.
Kael stood beside her, his usual easy charm replaced by a grim resolve. His gaze swept over the grand hall, its stone walls usually echoing with the whispers of history, now holding its breath in anticipation of conflict. He had moved with a quiet efficiency, securing the castle's entrances, his knowledge of its labyrinthine passages proving invaluable. Yet, even his practiced calm couldn’t entirely mask the worry etched around his eyes.
“They won’t stop,” Kael said, his voice a low rumble. “The Obsidian Hand… they’ve come too far to turn back now. Not when they believe the prophecy is within their grasp.”
