The air in the archives was thick with the scent of aging paper and forgotten stories, a perfume Maiden had come to find both comforting and, lately, suffocating. Dust motes danced in the slivers of light that pierced the grimy windows, each one a tiny universe swirling with secrets. She ran a fingertip along the spine of a brittle, leather-bound tome, its title barely discernible beneath a patina of time. Elder Elara had pointed her to this forgotten corner of the tribal library, a place where the official histories of their people were kept, meticulously cataloged and safely tucked away from casual eyes. But nothing concrete, nothing that screamed *this is it*, this is the explanation for the overwhelming intimacy that now permeated her every waking and sleeping moment. It was the presence of the entity that had first ignited the fear, the confusion, the gnawing doubt about her own sanity. Now, it was also a strange, insistent guide, nudging her, drawing her deeper into the labyrinth of her own heritage.
