The city hummed, indifferent. Days bled into weeks, then into a slow, creeping march of months. Each sunrise painted the Seattle skyline in hues I barely registered, each sunset a mournful farewell to a world that felt both achingly familiar and irrevocably altered. Silas Thorne. Or was I simply another puzzle he’d failed to solve, a fleeting challenge that had slipped through his fingers?
