Elara traced the faded lines of a constellation on a parchment spread before her, a tremor of recognition humming beneath her fingertips. It was the same pattern that had haunted her dreams, a celestial tapestry woven with threads of light she couldn’t quite grasp.

“You see it, don’t you?” Dr. Thorne’s voice, a gentle rumble from the depths of his armchair, broke the silence. He’d been watching her, his eyes, sharp as a hawk’s behind his spectacles, missing nothing. “The echo. The pattern that calls to you.”

Elara nodded, her gaze still fixed on the stars. “It feels… familiar. Like a song I almost remember.” The recent weeks had been a whirlwind of the strange and the unsettling. The peculiar aurora that had painted the night sky in colours no one could explain, the sudden, inexplicable chill that had settled over the town even in the height of summer, the way the town clock had chimed thirteen times at midnight last Tuesday – each event a tiny, insistent whisper that tugged at the edges of her fractured memory. Lily, her steadfast friend, had tried to dismiss it all as local folklore or an overactive imagination, but Elara knew, with a certainty that chilled her to the bone, that these were not mere coincidences. They were pieces of a puzzle, scattered across time and space, and more importantly, scattered within her own mind.
