Beneath the Gilded Dome

Elara’s fingers traced the faded ink of the map, the parchment brittle and smelling faintly of dust and forgotten secrets. It had been tucked away in a loose floorboard of her attic, a place she’d only ventured into during one of her restless nights, seeking refuge from the insistent echoes in her mind.
