The air in the den of the Whispering Woods was cooler, tinged with the scent of damp earth and the sweet, decaying perfume of pine needles. Sunlight, fractured into a thousand golden shards by the dense canopy, dappled the moss-laden roots of ancient trees. Elara, her heart still thrumming with a nervous energy left over from her hurried departure from home, found herself drawn deeper into the emerald embrace of the forest. Its skin was the color of aged bark, etched with patterns that resembled the veins of leaves. Its eyes, large and luminous, held the deep, knowing stillness of a forest pool. Long, silvery hair, woven with delicate wildflowers and moss, cascaded down its back like a waterfall. It moved with an effortless grace, each step silent on the forest floor.
