Chapter 7
A Chord of Sadness
The reflection haunts Eleanor. She questions if her curated escape is truly making her happy, or if it's simply masking a deeper unhappiness.
Eleanor’s breath hitched. The melody, so sweet and familiar, had twisted, morphing into something sharp and dissonant. She’d been lost in the swirling nebulae of a distant galaxy, the star-dust shimmering in time with the crescendo, when the music had faltered, then shifted. Instead of the cosmic ballet, a still, quiet image had bloomed before her eyes, clearer than any starlight. It was a reflection. Her reflection.

This was not the triumphant explorer, the brave astronaut, the fearless knight. This was just Eleanor, sitting on her bedroom floor, surrounded by the quiet hum of her own existence, the magical headphones a heavy weight on her ears. The galaxy outside her window, once so vibrant and full of promise, now seemed distant, a pale imitation of the worlds she visited with her ears.
