Jonas sat by the window, the city lights blurring into streaks of colour through the unshed tears in his eyes. His phone, once a beacon of hope, now felt like a heavy stone in his pocket. The Dubajus app glowed on the screen, a siren song of easy riches that was slowly, insidiously, drowning out the quiet hum of his conscience. It seems… too good to be true.” He’d offered a reassuring smile, a practiced deflection. “It’s just a new way to earn, Elena. People are always finding new things.” But her eyes had lingered on his, a question hanging in the air, a question he hadn’t been ready to answer, even to himself.
