Kael's stoic facade cracks, his eagle-like senses heightened. Driven by a buried past, his resolve to protect Luna hardens, his strength becoming a shield.
The wind, once a gentle caress, now whipped with a frantic urgency around Kael, tugging at his cloak and ruffling his dark hair. It carried a scent, sharp and metallic, that prickled the back of his throat – the unmistakable tang of fear, and something else, something ancient and corrupted. His eyes, usually calm and observant, darted across the twilight landscape, scanning the skeletal trees and the bruised sky. Within him, a primal instinct, dormant for so long, began to stir, a keenness that surpassed mere sight. He could feel the shift in the air, the subtle tremors in the earth, the hushed whispers of unseen things.
Ren stood beside him, his own gaze fixed on the same horizon, a low growl rumbling in his chest. "Do you feel it, Kael? It's… closer."
Kael nodded, his jaw tight. The unease that had been a constant companion since the Shadow Weaver’s presence had been revealed was now a gnawing dread. But beneath the fear, a different emotion was hardening, a molten core of resolve that spread through his limbs, lending them an unfamiliar strength. He looked at Luna, her small form silhouetted against the fading light, her innocent face etched with worry. She was the reason. She was the fragile bloom they were sworn to protect, and he would be the unyielding wall against whatever sought to crush her.
