The scent of jasmine, always Karim’s favourite, hung heavy in the air of his study, a fragrant counterpoint to the crisp logic of the Sudoku grid spread before him. Sunlight, filtered through the latticed windows, dappled the worn wooden table, illuminating the precise squares and the tantalizingly incomplete numbers. He traced a finger over a particularly stubborn sequence, a familiar knot of contemplation tightening in his chest. Yet, even in this moment of intellectual wrestling, a deep peace settled upon him. The dance of numbers, he mused, was a reflection of a grander, more intricate choreography woven into the very fabric of existence.
A soft knock at the door announced Aisha’s arrival. She entered with her usual quiet grace, her bright eyes taking in the scene – Karim, the puzzle, the diffused light. She carried a small tray with two steaming cups of mint tea, the aroma mingling with the jasmine.
“Peace be upon you, Karim,” she said, her voice a gentle melody.
