Her presence was a grounding force, a gentle anchor in Karim’s often-abstract world. She placed a cup before him, the warmth seeping into his fingertips.

“The sun is setting, Karim,” she said softly, her voice a melody of concern and affection. “You have been wrestling with this grid for hours.”
