The air in the Whispering Woods felt different today. It hummed with a new kind of quiet, one that wasn't empty but full of anticipation. I clutched the smooth, polished stones Elder Elara had given me, their coolness a steady comfort against my palm. She’d explained that the ‘screen hurt,’ as the reporter so dramatically called it, was a kind of energy, a wave of pure, concentrated observation that Kelly emitted when it felt threatened. The stones in my pocket felt warm now, radiating a faint, comforting energy. Elder Elara had told me to focus on them, to let their ancient calm wash over me, and then, to simply be. To be present, but not intrusive. To offer quiet respect.
