Did the Cavemen go fishing?

Miss Lily Sked Lanie, "How did the Cavemen catch fish?" Lanie, who had been diligently taking notes throughout their exploration of ancient tools and cave paintings, thought for a moment. Her brow furrowed in concentration, recalling the displays they had seen. "Well," she began, her voice thoughtful, "they didn't have fishing rods like we do. But I remember seeing some sharp, pointed tools, almost like spears. Maybe they used those to stab fish in shallow water?" She gestured with her hands, mimicking the action of thrusting a spear. "And there were also some displays of what looked like nets made from plant fibers. They might have used those to scoop fish out of rivers or lakes." Teddy chimed in, ever the analyst, "That makes sense. The tools would need to be strong and sharp for spearing, and the nets would have to be durable to hold the fish. It’s amazing how resourceful they were with the materials available to them." Baby Blue, picturing himself with a spear, added, "I bet it was really hard! The fish would be so wiggly!" Russo nodded in agreement, "Yeah, and you’d have to be super patient, waiting for the right moment." Jared, meanwhile, was examining a diagram of a prehistoric fishing scene. "Look," he said, pointing to the illustration, "they also show them using some kind of hook, made from bone or shell, tied to a line. So they had a few different methods!" The children looked at each other, a shared sense of wonder and appreciation for the ingenuity of early humans washing over them.
