The air still hummed with the impossible light, a relentless golden glow that had stretched for what felt like days. Paris, Alex, and Madelyn had abandoned the beach long ago, the endless sunshine now more a source of bewilderment than delight. They stood at the edge of Whispering Woods, the familiar trees now casting shadows that seemed to refuse to deepen. Madelyn, ever the researcher, clutched a worn book of local folklore. "The old stories say there’s a place deep in the woods," she murmured, her brow furrowed, "where the heart of summer beats strongest. They call it the Sunstone Grove."

Alex bounced on the balls of his feet, his usual boundless energy now tinged with a nervous excitement. "A grove? With a stone? Does it glow? Can we touch it?"

Paris, her observant eyes scanning the dense foliage, felt a familiar pull of curiosity. The endless day was starting to feel heavy, the absence of twilight a strange ache. She missed the soft descent into night, the gentle hush that settled over the world. "If this stone is connected to the sun not setting," she said, her voice steady, "then it's our best lead."
