The workshop, usually a symphony of whirring gears and enthusiastic hammering, was unusually quiet. Leo, hunched over his workbench, looked less like a budding inventor and more like a besieged squirrel contemplating a particularly stubborn nut. Wires snaked across the surface like metallic spaghetti, tools lay scattered in a state of organized chaos, and the air thrummed with a low, frustrated hum. This was Leo’s sanctuary, the place where his wildest ideas took tangible, albeit often wobbly, form. Today, however, his most ambitious creation yet, the “Star-Gazer 3000,” seemed determined to remain stubbornly earthbound.

“Come on, you magnificent contraption,” he muttered, tapping a particularly recalcitrant dial. “Just one glimpse of the Andromeda Galaxy. Is that too much to ask?”

Mia, ever the pragmatist, leaned against the doorframe, a faint smile playing on her lips. “Still wrestling with the cosmos, Leo?”
