The First Mystery Solved
They successfully retrieve the artifact. The notebook reveals a new page, marked with a new symbol and a fresh mystery.
The air in the hidden chamber hung thick and still, a forgotten breath from a time long past. Dust motes danced in the single beam of light that pierced the gloom, illuminating the pedestal at the chamber’s heart. Upon it rested not a glittering jewel or a trove of gold, but a simple, tarnished silver locket. It was smaller than they’d imagined, no bigger than Mia’s thumb, intricately carved with a swirling pattern that seemed to mimic the very symbol that had led them here.
“We did it,” Zoe whispered, her voice reverent, her eyes wide with a mixture of awe and relief. She gently nudged a stray strand of hair from her forehead, a smudge of dirt still clinging to her cheek.
Leo, who had been hovering anxiously, let out a whoop that echoed a little too loudly in the confined space. “Yes! The Electro-Glow Locket! My sonic vibrator almost worked perfectly to dislodge it from that tricky ledge, didn’t it?”
