Chapter 9
Voices of the Village
The villagers, sensing the crown's aura, begin to seek Kael's counsel. They bring their troubles, their questions, and their hopes, looking to him for answers.
The whispers, once a faint murmur in the back of Kael’s mind, now seemed to bloom into a chorus, echoing the soft rustle of leaves and the murmur of the river. It had been mere weeks since the weight of the Crown of Whispers had settled upon his brow, a crown that felt both ancient and alive, pulsating with a subtle energy that seemed to draw people in. He stood at the edge of the village square, the midday sun warming his face, and watched as the familiar faces of his adopted home turned towards him, their expressions a mixture of awe and a hopeful plea.

Not a feather to be found. You think the crown… it might know where she’s wandered off to?”
Kael blinked, a small smile playing on his lips. He remembered the hen, a plump, speckled creature that always seemed to be pecking at the roots of the great oak. He closed his eyes for a moment, focusing on the faint, almost imperceptible hum emanating from the crown. It wasn’t words, not exactly, but a feeling, an impression. A flash of a low, bramble-covered ditch near the edge of the forest.
