The biting wind whipped Kael’s tattered cloak around him, a relentless reminder of the journey he’d endured. Each gust seemed to carry the echoes of that horrifying night, the screams, the metallic tang of blood, the desperate urgency in his mother’s voice. He stumbled into a clearing, the dense forest finally relenting to reveal a cluster of humble dwellings.
