The wind, usually a gentle storyteller in the valley, carried a new cadence tonight, a sharp, dissonant note that prickled Kael’s skin. It was a whisper, yes, but not one of comfort or gentle guidance. This was a warning, a shiver of unease that slithered through the thatched roofs and rustled the leaves of the ancient oak.
