Chapter 13
A Mysterious Benefactor
Kael ponders the identity of the figure who gave him the crown. Was it a guardian? An enemy? The whispers offer no clear answer, only more questions.
The weight of the crown, even in his memory, felt heavy on Kael’s brow. It had been so long since the dark night that had stolen his parents and thrust this impossible burden upon him. He remembered the urgency in the stranger’s voice, a desperate plea that had echoed the terror in his own heart. The cloaked figure, whose face remained a blur in his memory, had pressed the cold, intricate metal into his palm, the whispers already beginning to stir, a faint hum against his skin. “Run, boy,” the voice had hissed, raw with a fear that mirrored his own. “Guard this with your life. They will come for it. They will come for you.”
