Kael, Lyra, and Elian face their first true challenge, a dangerous test designed to push their magical abilities to the limit. They must rely on each other to survive, forging their bond under pressure.
The air in the Chamber of Trials crackled, not with the usual hum of latent magic that permeated Elation Academy, but with a raw, untamed energy that prickled Kael’s skin. He stood at the precipice of a stone platform, the rough-hewn walls of the circular chamber rising around them like the maw of some ancient beast. Beside him, Lyra’s hand rested on his arm, her touch a steady anchor in the rising tide of his apprehension. Elian, ever the optimist, offered a wry grin, though the tension in his shoulders betrayed his own unease.
“Well, this certainly beats detention, doesn’t it?” Elian quipped, his voice a little too loud in the oppressive silence.
Lyra squeezed Kael’s arm. “Focus, Elian. Master Eldrin said this trial is designed to test our core strengths, not our wit.”
