Kael Ashbourne stood at the forefront, his heart a frantic drumbeat against his ribs, the weight of the Crown of Elarion a tangible pressure even though it remained safely ensconced within the sanctuary’s deepest chamber. Beside him, Lyra Valen’s face was etched with a grim determination, her moonlight magic weaving a shimmering shield that pulsed against the onslaught. Elian Storm, his usual jovial demeanor replaced by a steely resolve, unleashed torrents of arcane energy, his laughter now a fierce battle cry. And then there was Darius Vane, the prince who had once been Kael’s bitter rival, now standing shoulder to shoulder, his fiery magic a blazing inferno that scorched the encroaching darkness.

The sanctuary, a place of hushed reverence and forgotten lore, had become a battlefield. The ancient stones, imbued with centuries of protective enchantments, groaned under the assault. Malakor’s soldiers, a grotesque blend of corrupted beasts and twisted mages, hammered relentlessly, their dark magic seeking any weakness, any crack in the academy’s defenses.

“They’re too many, Kael!” Elian shouted over the din, dodging a blast of necrotic energy. “Lyra, can you hold the shield much longer?”
