Lyra, ever the pragmatist, was poring over ancient texts concerning lunar cycles and their influence on elemental magic, her brow furrowed in concentration. Darius, predictably, was engaged in some vigorous, if pointless, sparring with a training automaton in the courtyard, his grunts of exertion echoing even here. He’d begun his search in the section dedicated to the academy’s founding, hoping for some forgotten anecdote, some overlooked detail that might offer a clue.
