The air in the Sunken Library was thick with the scent of decay and forgotten knowledge. Dust motes danced in the scant shafts of light that pierced the crumbling ceiling, illuminating shelves lined with tomes whose bindings had long since surrendered to time. Elara traced the outline of a faded inscription on a stone pedestal, her fingers gritty with the accumulated history of this place. Beside her, Kael’s presence was a steady anchor, his gaze sweeping over the vast expanse of ruin with an intensity that spoke of a deep, personal connection to this lost sanctuary.
"This place," Elara began, her voice a hushed whisper, "it feels… heavy."
Kael nodded, his eyes fixed on a particularly large, leather-bound volume lying open on a stone lectern. "It was a repository of our kingdom's most sacred lore, Elara. Before the blight, before the whispers of Seraphina became shouts of despair. The keepers of this library were the first to document the betrayal."
