Elara and Kael embark on their quest. They face their first trials, navigating treacherous landscapes and encountering strange creatures, testing Elara's resolve and Kael's guidance.
The biting wind whipped Elara’s worn cloak around her, a stark contrast to the comforting warmth of her forge. Beside her, Kael moved with a silent grace that belied the rough terrain, his gaze sweeping the darkening horizon. They had left the familiar, if blighted, fields of her village behind at dawn, the weight of a kingdom’s despair settling upon Elara’s shoulders with every step. The path ahead, barely more than a deer trail winding through skeletal trees, promised little comfort.
“Are you certain this is the way, Kael?” Elara’s voice, though low, carried a tremor of unease. The sky above was a bruised purple, and the air grew heavy, thick with an unseen presence that prickled her skin.
Kael paused, his hand resting on the hilt of the sword sheathed at his hip. “The old maps are vague, and the land itself shifts with the curse’s whim. But the whispers of the ancient ones guide us. This path, for all its harshness, is the one that leads toward the Dawn Peaks, where the artifact is said to lie.”
