Cecilia finds herself drawn back to the shop, seeking Leo's company and the comfort of his presence. She begins sketching, trying to capture the mystery that surrounds him.
The scent of old paper and beeswax was a siren song, pulling me back to "The Gilded Locket" with an urgency I couldn't quite explain. It wasn't just the allure of forgotten treasures or the quiet hum of history that beckoned; it was Leo. He had become an unexpected anchor in my often-turbulent artistic world, a still point in the swirling chaos of my own thoughts.
I pushed open the heavy oak door, the familiar chime of the bell a soft welcome. Sunlight, filtered through the dusty panes, painted warm stripes across the worn Persian rug. The air was thick with stories, each object a silent narrator. I found him behind the counter, his back to me, carefully polishing a silver locket, the same one that had first caught my eye. The afternoon sun caught the highlights in his dark hair, and for a moment, I just watched, a quiet observer of his grace.
He turned then, as if sensing my presence, and a slow, genuine smile spread across his lips. It was a smile that reached his eyes, crinkling the corners, and my heart did a little flutter it seemed determined to perform every time he looked at me like that. "Cecilia," he said, his voice a low rumble that always sent a pleasant shiver down my spine. "Back for more?"
