Chapter 8
Islands at War
The first major conflict erupts. Kingdoms clash, driven by desperation and the promises of power. The Crimson Archipelago bleeds, a testament to the brutal struggle for survival and dominance.
The air itself seemed to crackle with an unseen energy, a prelude to the storm that was about to break. For weeks, the islands of the Crimson Archipelago had been a powder keg, each nation a flickering ember waiting for the spark. Now, the spark had landed, and the inferno was about to consume them all. From the obsidian shores of Infernus, Queen Cynika watched, her eyes, like chips of volcanic glass, reflecting the distant lights of her enemies. Cynika offered a thin, predatory smile. "Hope is a dangerous drug, my son. It blinds them to the inevitable. Today, they will learn the true meaning of despair." Her voice was a silken caress, yet it carried the chilling weight of absolute command. She knew the illusion, the world they inhabited, was a fragile construct. And she knew that fracturing it, bending it to her will, was the ultimate prize. The others, lost in the mire of their fabricated emotions, were merely stepping stones.
