The salt spray bit at Kaelen’s face, a cold, familiar sting that did little to cool the inferno in his gut. Before them, the sea churned, a bruised purple under a sky that wept perpetual twilight. And beyond that, a jagged silhouette against the dying light: Infernus. The heart of the Crimson Archipelago, now a fortress of ambition and a tomb for countless dreams. This was it. The final reckoning.
Elder Lyra stood beside him, her usual serene aura a fragile shield against the storm of emotions swirling around them. Her eyes, usually a clear, deep pool, were shadowed with a sorrow that had become a permanent fixture. Around them, the assembled forces of the United Front – a patchwork of banners, armor, and desperate faces – shifted restlessly. The air thrummed with a nervous energy, a potent cocktail of fear and grim determination.
“They have made their choice,” Lyra’s voice was a low murmur, barely audible above the crashing waves and the clamor of anxious soldiers. “To stand against the dawn, to deny the possibility of a shared future. Queen Cynika has woven her kingdom from threads of dominance, and now she expects us to unravel.”
