The house groaned, and Eleanor pressed her back against the door, the journal clutched to her chest. The man before her—the real Julian Blackwood, she was certain now—stood trembling in the foyer, his eyes darting around the shadowed hall.
"Who was he?" Julian asked, his voice cracking. "The man who was here."
"I don't know," Eleanor said. "He had papers. He knew about the house."
