The Shadow Weaver wasn't just a new villain; they were a force that made the last war feel like a skirmish. Their shadow army, a tide of obsidian and despair, had swept across continents, leaving behind only silence and sorrow. Earth’s defenses, once formidable, were now buckling, groaning under the relentless assault.
Marylu stood beside me, her face a mask of grim determination, though I could see the flicker of fear in her eyes, the same fear that was a constant companion in the aftermath of the first war. It was a fear I knew intimately, a cold dread that settled deep in your bones. But it was also a fear that, for Marylu, always ignited a fire.
"They're too many, Daisy," she said, her voice low, barely audible above the distant roar of battle. "We've thrown everything we have at them, and it's not enough."
