The Party Incident
After the school being invited to a party at Stacy's place, Niki still goes despite Jake warning him it's a bad idea. Niki ends up drunk and Stacy takes the chance to finally still him, claiming him possessively right in front of Jake. Stacy makes out with Niki and later on, Niki and Jake have a fight, causing them to part ways, despite longing for each other.
The invitation arrived, a glossy card embossed with Stacy’s name in looping, arrogant script. A party. At her house. The air in the classroom thickened, a palpable buzz of anticipation rippling through the students. Jake, ever the dutiful class president, felt a familiar knot of responsibility tighten in his stomach. Parties, especially Stacy’s, were often breeding grounds for drama. He glanced at Niki, who was leaning back in his chair, a faint, unreadable smile playing on his lips. Niki’s eyes met his for a fleeting second, a spark of something – defiance? amusement? – before flicking away.
“It’s a bad idea, Niki,” Jake said, the words escaping before he could stop them. He’d meant it as a quiet warning, a private observation, but Niki’s head snapped up, his gaze sharp.
“And why’s that, President?” Niki drawled, the smirk widening, a challenge etched into the corners of his mouth.
