The air in the sorcerer's chamber, thick with the scent of dried herbs and forgotten spells, seemed to vibrate with a newfound stillness. For so long, it had thrummed with his anger, a constant, low hum of resentment that had seeped into the very stone of his fortress. Now, however, a different resonance filled the space, a fragile melody born of Ange’s unwavering gaze and the raw vulnerability she had so bravely laid bare.

The sorcerer, who had once reveled in the icy grip of his solitude, found himself disarmed. The artifact, the Sunstone, pulsed softly in its obsidian cradle, its light, once a beacon of his power, now seemed to mock his bitterness. He had believed its brilliance could shield him from the echoes of his past, that its hoard would be his ultimate victory. But Ange, with her simple plea and her unburdened heart, had shown him the hollowness of his triumph.

He looked at her, this girl from the village, so small against the vastness of his despair. Her eyes, wide and earnest, held no fear, only a profound sadness that mirrored his own, a sadness he had buried so deep he had almost forgotten its shape. He saw not a threat, but a reflection of what he had lost, what he had once been before the world had broken him.
