The air in the shadowed valley grew heavy, a tangible shroud that seemed to cling to Ange’s cloak like damp moss. Garrick, his magnificent golden eyes now holding a glint of wary respect, flew a few paces ahead, his powerful wings beating a steady rhythm against the oppressive silence. The Gnarled Pass had yielded its secrets, and now, a new and far more chilling darkness loomed. Elder Maeve’s words, once a gentle guide, now echoed with a grim urgency in Ange’s mind: "There are shadows that fester, child, and some hold onto light with a desperate, selfish grip."

They had emerged from the pass into a desolate landscape, where the very earth seemed to weep a sickly, greyish ooze. Twisted, skeletal trees clawed at the bruised sky, their branches bare and brittle as ancient bones. Even Garrick, usually so confident, seemed to sense the malevolence that permeated this place. He let out a low growl, a rumble that vibrated through Ange’s boots.

"This is it, isn't it?" Ange whispered, her voice barely audible. "The sorcerer's domain."
