Chapter 12
A Test of Faith
Mei faces a crucial test, perhaps a challenge set by the god, or a trial orchestrated by the Shadow Weaver. Her courage, adaptability, and growing understanding of her husband's divine nature are put to the ultimate proof.
The air in their small, thatched dwelling crackled with an energy Mei couldn't quite decipher. It wasn't the familiar hum of a brewing storm, nor the quiet contentment of a shared meal. Mei, mending a tear in his tunic, found her needle faltering, her fingers clumsy. Her heart pounded a rhythm against her ribs, a frantic drumbeat of anticipation. Elder Li’s words, spoken weeks ago, echoed in her mind: “Fate weaves its threads in mysterious ways, child. Some destinies are not chosen, but discovered.” Had she discovered her destiny, or had it been thrust upon her?
