Dawn's Embrace
They walk into the forest, bathed in the first light of dawn. No longer secrets, the dresses are a family. They whisper truths of resilience: 'You were never weak, never broken.'
The forest floor, damp with the dew of a thousand forgotten nights, yielded softly beneath her feet. Each step was a quiet exhalation, a release of breath held for far too long. Behind her, not a shadow, but a shimmering, rustling constellation of colour followed. The dresses. They were no longer confined to the spectral confines of a wardrobe, real or imagined. They were here, tangible, radiating a warmth that chased away the last lingering chill of the wicked woman’s house.
The first rays of dawn, shy at first, then bold, painted the undersides of the leaves with streaks of rose and gold. It was a gentle light, utterly unlike the harsh, unforgiving glare that had sometimes pierced her window. This light felt like a greeting, a soft hello from a world that had been waiting.
The Soft Blue Dress, its fabric like mist caught in a spiderweb, drifted closer. It nudged her hand with a whisper of moonlight. "You see?" its voice was a melody of hushed secrets, the sound of a stream over smooth pebbles. "The world is not afraid of you. It never was."
