Marcy follows a lead from Sterling's clue, which unexpectedly points towards a local antique shop. The teacups seem to be part of a larger, more complex puzzle than she initially assumed.

The chipped ceramic felt cool against Marcy’s fingertips, a stark contrast to the simmering frustration in her gut. The clue Sterling had left, scrawled on the back of a faded postcard depicting a surprisingly grim-looking lighthouse, was maddeningly vague: "Where history whispers and porcelain dreams." Marcy had spent the better part of the morning staring at it, the words mocking her with their poetic obscurity. History whispered everywhere in this city, and porcelain, in Marcy’s current experience, mostly dreamed of being elsewhere, preferably in its rightful saucer.

Still, ‘Where history whispers’ had a certain ring to it, a place where stories lingered. And ‘porcelain dreams’… well, that was the teacups, wasn’t it? Her mind, a frantic hamster on a wheel, spun through possibilities. The museum? Too obvious. The old library? Perhaps, but the teacups were decidedly more… domestic. Then, like a faint scent of Earl Grey on a cold morning, it struck her: the antique shops. There were dozens scattered across the city, each a dusty repository of forgotten lives and faded grandeur.

She’d narrowed it down to three promising candidates by lunchtime, each with a name that hinted at a certain age: "Ye Olde Curiosities," "The Gilded Past," and "Ages Ago Antiques." Officer Davies had, predictably, hovered.
