Marcy plans a trap for the organization, using her knowledge of their methods and Sterling's strategic advice. It requires coordination and trust among the team.

The air in the precinct hummed with a nervous energy, a stark contrast to the usual drone of paperwork and lukewarm coffee. Marcy, however, felt a surge of something akin to exhilaration, a coiled spring of anticipation. For weeks, she’d been chasing shadows, piecing together a mosaic of seemingly insignificant crimes that, when viewed through Detective Sterling’s peculiar lens, began to form a chillingly coherent picture. The missing teacups, the pilfered pies, the vanishing garden gnomes – they weren't isolated incidents. They were threads, meticulously woven into a tapestry of something far grander, and far more sinister.

Tonight, they would attempt to snag the spider at the center of the web. Sterling’s advice, delivered in his usual elliptical fashion over a shared plate of questionable diner biscuits, had been surprisingly direct. “The smallest gears turn the largest wheels, Marcy. They are predictable in their pettiness. Exploit that.”

And so, the plan was hatched. A trap, as elaborate and delicate as one of Mrs. Higgins’ prized porcelain creations. Marcy had spent the better part of the day sketching out the details, her brow furrowed in concentration, a faint smudge of ink adorning her cheek. The blueprint, spread across her desk, was a testament to her newfound willingness to embrace collaboration, a concept she’d previously treated with the same suspicion she reserved for overly enthusiastic door-to-door salesmen.
