Their investigation takes a dramatic turn with the revelation of Zorp, a flamboyant alien smuggler. Zorp, known for their theatrical flair and greed, is identified as the prime suspect, intending to hawk the Cosmic Chronometer on the intergalactic black market. Their reputation precedes them, promising a challenging adversary.
The flickering neon sign of "The Cosmic Diner" cast an otherworldly glow on the rain-slicked street, a beacon in the encroaching Martian twilight. Inside, the air hummed with the clatter of alien cutlery and the murmur of a dozen different languages, a symphony of the bizarre that Mia found both irritating and oddly comforting. Marcus, on the other hand, was practically vibrating with excitement, his eyes darting around the room like a hummingbird on a sugar rush.
"This is it, Mia!" he whispered, his voice brimming with an almost childlike wonder. "This is where Barty said Zorp would be. The notorious Zorp! Imagine, the smuggler who deals in… well, everything! And they say Zorp has the Cosmic Chronometer!"
Mia adjusted her fedora, a practiced gesture that did little to conceal her weariness. "Yes, Marcus, we've been over this. A priceless Martian artifact, stolen from a high-security museum, likely en route to an intergalactic auction. And our only lead is a conspiracy theorist with a tinfoil hat and a hamster he believes is an alien scout." She took a slow sip of her lukewarm, suspiciously green beverage. "My expectations are, shall we say, calibrated."
