The Next Peculiar Puzzle
With the Cosmic Chronometer safe and their appetites satisfied, Mia and Marcus look forward to their next case. The city, and perhaps the galaxy, holds countless more mysteries, and they are ready, armed with sarcasm, luck, and a shared taste for the absurd.
The last of the space-themed ice cream, a swirling nebula of blueberry and vanilla with a suspiciously fizzy popping candy core, melted into oblivion. Mia dabbed a napkin delicately at the corner of her mouth, a faint, almost imperceptible smudge of whipped cream the only testament to the culinary (and potentially explosive) adventure they’d just survived. Beside her, Marcus, bless his perpetually optimistic heart, was still attempting to coax a final, defiant cherry from its pedestal, his brow furrowed in concentration.
“It’s… resilient,” he declared, finally succeeding with a triumphant, albeit sticky, flourish. He popped the cherry into his mouth, chewing with the gusto of a man who’d just wrestled a supernova and won.
Mia offered a small, dry smile. “Much like our current predicament, wouldn’t you say?”
