A Sundae of Success

To celebrate, Mia and Marcus indulge in a ridiculously extravagant space-themed ice cream sundae. It's piled high with whipped cream, alien-shaped candies, and a miniature rocket ship, promising a sweet, and possibly explosive, end to their case.

The aroma of caramelized sugar and something vaguely reminiscent of ozone tickled Mia’s nose. She blinked, the harsh fluorescent lights of the museum’s restored exhibit hall seeming a bit too bright after the subdued glow of Zorp’s ship. Beside her, Marcus emitted a low hum of pure contentment, his gaze fixed on the counter of “Cosmic Confections,” a dessert parlor that had apparently materialized overnight on the museum’s manicured lawn.

“Mia,” Marcus breathed, his voice reverent, “look.”

Mia followed his gaze. It wasn’t just an ice cream sundae. It was an *event*. A towering glass chalice, at least a foot tall, overflowed with what appeared to be a galaxy of frozen delights. Swirls of nebulae-colored ice cream – blueberry lavender, mango chili, and a startlingly vibrant lime green that Mia suspected was artificially enhanced – were mounded precariously. Dollops of whipped cream, dusted with edible glitter that shimmered like distant stars, formed fluffy celestial bodies. And then there were the toppings: gummy aliens in various states of existential dread, chocolate meteorites that looked suspiciously like burnt sugar, and, most spectacularly, a miniature, fully functional (or so the sign claimed) rocket ship, complete with a wisp of cotton candy smoke trailing from its booster.
