Zorp's Tangled Trap
Zorp, attempting to apprehend them, becomes ensnared in their own network of laser grids and robotic arms, a fittingly flamboyant end to their grand scheme. Their fear of small, furry creatures is momentarily forgotten in the face of their own technological downfall.
The hum of the space station’s ventilation system, a sound Mia had initially cataloged as ‘low-grade annoyance,’ now seemed to thrum with a disquieting energy. Marcus, ever the optimist, was humming along, a tinny rendition of a forgotten Earth pop song. “You know, Mia,” he chirped, adjusting his ill-fitting catering uniform, “this whole ‘serving canapés to intergalactic criminals’ gig is surprisingly… fulfilling. In a way.”
Mia offered a tight smile, her eyes scanning the polished chrome corridors. “Fulfilling for whom, Marcus? I’m still trying to figure out how your attempt to ‘accidentally’ spill a tray of shimmering space-goo on Zorp’s prize-winning petunias turned into a full-blown chase sequence involving sentient serving robots and a rogue disco ball.”
Marcus winced. “Minor miscalculation. The goo was *supposed* to be the distraction, not the main event. But hey, at least we know where the Chronometer is, right? Zorp’s private vault, according to that rather chatty maintenance bot I… persuaded.”
