The sky, once a canvas of gentle whispers and familiar constellations, began to churn. Leo, nestled in his window seat, felt a prickle of unease crawl up his spine. The air, usually soft and sweet with the scent of night-blooming jasmine, grew heavy, laced with a metallic tang that spoke of distant rumblings. He glanced at Twinkle, who was curled on his pillow, a small, pulsing ember of light, his usual cheerful glow now a little subdued, a faint tremor running through his luminescence.

“What’s happening, Twinkle?” Leo asked, his voice a hushed question swallowed by the growing wind that rattled the panes.

Twinkle’s light flickered, a nervous beat against the darkening room. “The sky… it’s angry, Leo.” His voice, usually a chime, was a low hum, tinged with a fear Leo hadn’t heard before. “It’s calling me back. The sky doesn’t like it when its lights wander too far from their appointed places.”
