Chapter 8
Unraveling the Threads
Ryan delves deeper into the pack's archives, searching for any mention of Luna's lineage or the prophecy she speaks of. The strange events escalate, becoming more alarming.
The musty scent of aged parchment and forgotten ink filled my lungs as I pushed open the heavy oak door to the pack archives. Dust motes danced in the single shaft of sunlight that pierced the gloom, illuminating rows upon rows of leather-bound tomes and brittle scrolls. Silas had been right; if answers were to be found, they would be buried here, in the meticulously kept records of the Blue Moon Pack’s history. The river, usually a boisterous current, had dwindled to a sluggish trickle, its waters murky and stagnant. And then there were the dreams. Nightmares, more like. Fragmented visions of shadows coalescing, of a chilling cold seeping into the very heart of the pack lands, and a single, piercing cry that echoed through the darkness. The pack members were growing restless, their fear a palpable thing that hung in the air like a suffocating fog.
