The air thrummed with a primal energy, a symphony of growls and snarls that vibrated through my very bones. Sandalwood and vanilla, once a tantalizing mystery, now mingled with the sharp tang of fear and the metallic scent of blood. My pack. My territory. Under attack. A guttural roar tore from my throat, a sound born of raw fury and the desperate need to protect what was mine. The fear that had gnawed at me since her arrival, the fear of the unknown, was slowly being replaced by a different kind of dread – the fear of losing her, of losing us.
