The tang of pine and damp earth had been my constant companion for years, a familiar comfort that settled deep into my bones. But tonight, something else had intruded, a scent so potent, so utterly foreign, it had jolted me from my routine patrol like a snapped branch underfoot. Sandalwood, rich and dark, mingled with a sweetness that was both innocent and intoxicating, like vanilla plucked from a midnight bloom. It wasn't the scent of a stray wolf, nor the musky perfume of a neighboring pack. This was something new, something that whispered of secrets and stirred a primal current deep within my chest.
I moved faster, my senses on high alert, the familiar woods suddenly feeling charged with an unseen energy. The scent grew stronger, leading me towards the edge of our territory, where the ancient oaks stood like sentinels against the encroaching darkness. And there, bathed in the sliver of moonlight that pierced the canopy, she stood.
She was a silhouette against the gloom, yet even from a distance, I could feel her presence, a palpable force that drew me in. There was an aura about her, a delicate balance of fragility and steel. She was tall, her form lithe, and as she turned, the moonlight caught the glint of something in her eyes, something ancient and untamed. Danger and allure, a potent cocktail that made my wolf stir, a low rumble in my chest that was half warning, half yearning.
