Table of contents
- 1The Orb AppearsMy quiet morning is shattered by the discovery of a perfectly smooth, impossibly blue ball. It's utterly featureless, lacking even a mouth, which strikes me as profoundly odd. Where does it... process things?
- 2Toast Takes ChargeThe blue ball levitates, emitting strange hums. Suddenly, a zap! My toaster is alive, its heating elements glowing with intent. It demands butter with the voice of a disgruntled philosopher. This is not normal.
- 3Kitchen UprisingChaos erupts as more objects awaken: a bossy spatula, a philosophical whisk, and a gaggle of gossiping tea bags. They form a tiny, bickering rebellion, united only by their newfound sentience and a shared disdain for my cooking.
- 4Butter DebatesI attempt to negotiate with the toaster. It's surprisingly adept at existential discourse but utterly unreasonable about sharing the jam. The spatula, meanwhile, is organizing a coup from atop the spice rack.
- 5Alien InterventionThe blue ball reveals its alien origins—a scout here to 'liberate' Earth's possessions. It eyes my laundry pile suspiciously, convinced my socks are plotting a solo rebellion. My home is now a galactic front.
- 6The Great EscapeA mad dash ensues. I'm pursued by sentient dust bunnies and a surprisingly agile armchair. The blue ball zips ahead, 'liberating' everything from the television to my toothbrush, threatening planetary chaos.
- 7Tupperware ContainmentWith a desperate lunge, I trap the alien orb in a jumbo Tupperware. The toaster and spatula, exhausted from their rebellion, broker a truce. My primary condition: a guaranteed butter supply for life.
- 8Order Restored (Mostly)The blue ball is contained, its 'liberation' mission on hold. The toaster has mellowed, enjoying philosophical chats without demanding excessive butter. The spatula still barks orders, but now it's mostly about cleaning.
- 9Lingering OdditiesLife returns to a semblance of normal, but the house holds new quirks. My socks occasionally whisper secrets, and the toaster sometimes hums alien tunes. The blue ball, silent in its container, watches.

- Vampire bride
Midnight on my window Cold breath on the glass Something moves in silence A shadow in the grass Pale face in the dark Sharp teeth in the moon You smell me from a mile And now you're coming so I try to turn and run But my legs won't go I hear your hungry steps Slow, then slow, then slow Your eyes lock on mine And the room goes still One glance and I'm yours Against my will Vampire bride, vampire bride You took my name tonight Vampire bride, vampire bride Bite me and hold me tight (hold me tight) I was flesh, now I'm fire You made your dark desire Vampire bride, vampire bride I'm yours tonight Your hand is ice and velvet Your kiss is cold and red The world spins out beneath me As I lean back in your bed I felt the sting, the rushing The fever in my veins Now I hear my heartbeat Like thunder in chains I try to say my name But it breaks apart You pull me deeper in With a blackened heart The mirror starts to fade My skin turns white You smile like you knew I'd join the night Vampire bride, vampire bride You took my name tonight Vampire bride, vampire bride Bite me and hold me tight (hold me tight) I was flesh, now I'm fire You made your dark desire Vampire bride, vampire bride I'm yours tonigh Now I walk with you Through the borrowed dark No more prey, no more fear Only teeth and sparks If I call your name Will you call me yours? Close the door, lock the world Let the hunger roar Vampire bride, vampire bride You took my name tonight Vampire bride, vampire bride Bite me and hold me tight (hold me tight) I was flesh, now I'm fire You made your dark desire Vampire bride, vampire bride I'm yours tonight
- The factory beneath the floor
The Factory Beneath the Floor • 2 CHAPTER ONE THE ROAD WHERE THE WORLD ENDS The water had been rising for three days. It had swallowed the fields first. Then the old county road. Then the abandoned gas station at the edge of town. By the fourth night, the only road leading toward Moon Industrial Works had become a narrow strip of cracked asphalt surrounded by dark, churning water. Alexander Moon drove slowly through the storm. Rain hammered the roof of his car so hard that it sounded like thousands of fingers tapping against the metal. The windshield wipers moved back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth. They were barely winning their battle against the rain. Alexander leaned closer to the windshield. The headlights illuminated only a few feet ahead. Beyond that was darkness. He could barely see the road. He should have turned around. Every sensible part of him told him to turn around. But Alexander had spent the last three months searching for answers, and every answer had led him to the same place. The factory. Moon Industrial Works. A place his family refused to discuss.
