The air in Han Ji-hoon’s apartment was thick with the scent of lemon polish and blooming roses. Detective Kang Min-jae stood in the center of the living room, the silence amplifying the soft tick of an antique clock. Officer Lee stood by the door, his usual boisterous demeanor subdued, his eyes darting around the meticulously ordered space. It was a stark contrast to the chaos they usually found themselves wading through. Here, everything was in its place, a testament to a mind that craved order, perhaps even a desperate need for control.

“He’s… tidy,” Lee observed, his voice barely a whisper, as if afraid to disturb the stillness.

Kang didn’t respond. He was drawn to the bookshelf, a spectrum of colors meticulously arranged. He ran a gloved finger along the spines, each one perfectly aligned. It was the kind of order that spoke of a deep-seated obsession, a personality that could easily fracture under pressure. He moved to the shoe rack by the entrance, rows of polished leather and canvas, each pair positioned with military precision. There wasn’t a scuff mark to be seen, not a speck of dust on the gleaming floor.
